Purpose of this Page: Outline the Accessibility Arrangements for the Tuki Website

We believe the internet should be accessible and inclusive for everyone, regardless of circumstances or ability. To achieve this, we aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. Compliance with these guidelines helps us ensure that our website is accessible to all individuals, including people who are blind, visually impaired, motor-impaired, color blind, cognitively impaired, epileptic, or have other disabilities.

The Tuki website has been designed to meet the requirements of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Accessibility Adjustments for Service) 2013 and the WCAG 2.1 recommendations for accessible web content.

Accessibility Features Implemented on Our Website

1. Semantic Structure and ARIA:

The website is built with semantic HTML and uses proper content hierarchy. ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes are integrated to ensure users relying on screen readers can navigate and understand the website effectively.

2. Alternative Text for Images:

All images include ALT text, providing clear and simple descriptions of their content.

3. Keyboard Navigation:

•Navigate the site using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys.

•Activate menus and dropdowns with arrow keys, and close them using the Esc key.

•Activate buttons and links using the Enter key.

•Select and toggle radio buttons or checkboxes using the spacebar or Enter key.

•A clear and prominent focus indicator is provided to assist keyboard navigation.

4. Screen Reader Compatibility:

The content is compatible with popular screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA.

5. Contrast and Readability:

Text on the site is designed with high contrast to support users with visual impairments.

6. Breadcrumb Navigation:

Internal pages include breadcrumbs for hierarchical navigation.

7. No Auto-Play Media:

To prevent discomfort for users with hearing aids, no audio or video plays automatically.

8. Keyboard Shortcuts for Quick Navigation:

Skip-to-content links and fast navigation menus are available for users who prefer keyboard-only interaction.

9. Customizable Accessibility Options:

A blue accessibility icon, located at the bottom-right corner of the screen, provides access to an accessibility interface. This allows users to customize the website to suit their individual needs.

•Color Profile Adjustments: Users can switch to high contrast, inverted contrast, or a light background.

•Font Adjustments: Users can increase text size and change fonts to simpler, more readable options.

•Disable Animations: Animations can be paused for users sensitive to motion.

•Mouse Pointer Adjustments: A standard cursor option is available.

•Highlight Links: Users can underline links for improved visibility.

•Link Behavior: By default, external links open in a new tab. Users can adjust this to open links in the same tab.

10. Browser and Technology Compatibility:

The website is optimized for the most commonly used browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, and supports over 95% of user technology preferences. Compatibility includes screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA on both Windows and macOS.
